My thoughts upon reading this article from Mosaic;
I appreciate Oren’s revelations re Obama’s take on Israel but, from this article, it seems he is late to the party. We now applaud Dershowitz for his support of Israel’s stance on Iran, but he too is late to the party, as are many new-found Isreal supporters in Liberal ranks. Where were these “smart” people when Obama was nominated as the Democrat candidate for President in 2008?
When Jews knew, or should have known about this man’s ties to the virulent anti-semite, Reverend Wright? His ties to Ayres? His ties to Alinsky? His ties to the Islamist Kahlid? Liberal, supposedly srt Jews closed their minds to reality and decided that party came first and absolving their white liberal consciences came a close second.
When at the Democrat convention in 2012 DEMOCRATS BOOED a pro-Israel statement was that not enough to open their eyes? I have little respect for these Liberals who suddenly have their eyes opened. I accept their help but we ought not give them undue credit for finally opening their minds to reality.
Time and time again we see in life our our inner biases trump the truth. why do we Jews find it so necessary that the world “love” us. Every other ethnic group reserves the right to loudly assert its own rights — but not those liberal Jews. They are concerned with “Tikkun Olam”, the repair of the world. Better repair ourselves, and save our brothers, and let the world repair itself!
How Israel Got Taken
“More than [about] policy…, Barack Obama was about ideology and a worldview often at variance with Israel’s.” These words constitute the thesis statement of Ally: My Journey across the American-Israeli Divide, the new memoir by the historian Michael Oren, who served as Israel’s ambassador in Washington from 2009 to 2013.
